    Default 1000mph Scalextric Record

    1,000mph Scalextric record

The Scalextric Guinness World Speed Record has been smashed by celebrity Dallas Campbell.
He set a new speed equivalent to 983.88mph with a Honda F1 model Scalextric racer.
That beats the previous record by almost 300mph, which stood at 696.90mph.
It was achieved on a 200-foot stretch of track set up at the VK Chatsworth Rally Show.
Former rally champion Steve Perez was on hand to help out and said: "It's amazing that cars of this size can achieve equivalent speeds of over 900mph, with Dallas achieving a terrific feat by smashing the world record by some margin."

Quite surprising, especially since the title of it on the Yahoo homepage was "F1 Car Beats 1000mph Speed Barrier" .

damn you beat me to it, but my title was:

    Honda F1 car clocks 1,000mph.

Its mental they can make it go that quick I doubt it'll handle that well round a corner unless it had a really strong magnet in it

Is that the scale speed? i.e the car isn't actually going 1,000mph but thats the speed it would be going if it was the real size

Jezus, divide 1000 bij 32, that's still damn quick!
My slotracers race on my track (with a lot of bends) under 9 seconds.
    Around 30meters long.

It doesn't matter how much horsepower your car has, it's about the smile on your face when you drive it.

Yes, which makes it a load of old rubbish. Physics doesn't work like that.

That was what I was thinking, don't even thinking. I don't even do physics and know that dosn't work. Thats why a car with 50 bhp can do over 100 mph but to go 200 you need 500+ normally. Why bother, thats like saying a Peel goes 300 becouse its much smaller than a veyron.

Yeah, it is scale speed because if it was actually doing 983mph it would cover the track less than a second .

You for nugget, he wasn't saying that a peel goes 300. He said it was like a peel doing 300mph just because it was smaller than a veyron
