Exclamation Assetto Corsa is coming to PS4 and Xbox One in 2016

The news many console players have been waiting for is actually here! Assetto Corsa (AC) the extremely well-praised sim-racer from the talented Kunos Simulazioni are teaming up with 505 Games to bring the title to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2016. AC is a hardcore full on the details simulation where every track and car is carefully recreated to an incredibly high level of detail. PC players have recently only gotten the Gold Version 1.0 of the game after a fairly long stint in Steam's Early Access program but the updates keep coming and the reviews are very much in the positive area. Another racer to add to the fold and give strong competition to the old dogs of Forza and Gran Turismo along with the new upstart of Project CARS is a very good thing and it is truly wonderful to see consoles being able to join the party in getting these hardcore simulations.

    RELEASE

Calabasa, Calif. – June 3, 2015 – 505 Games today announced a partnership with Italian developer Kunos Simulazioni to publish the current generation console versions of Assetto Corsa, the highly acclaimed racing game. Currently available on Steam, Assetto Corsa is regarded as one of the most authentic racing simulators on the market.

Aptly branded “Your Racing Simulator,” Assetto Corsa ups the simulation stakes by emphasizing and focusing on pure physics realism, with precision accuracy across every aspect from the meticulousness car handling to the laser-measured tracks.

The standout stars of the game are of course the cars themselves; Assetto Corsa has partnered with the most prestigious automotive manufacturers to license life-like models of the genre’s biggest stars, from Ferrari to Fiat, from McLaren to Mercedes, and Lamborghini to Lotus.

Players are able to further deepen their playing experience by adjusting the handling and race set-up of each and every car in-game, whereby cars can be individually tuned to cater for your personal racing style. The overall racing experience can be further modified by adjusting everything from driver attributes to collision damage, to deliver a thrilling and true racing experience. All of these features together breed the realism that Assetto Corsa is known and celebrated for.

Making its console debut in 2016, Assetto Corsa will bring specific features such as

    • Over one hundred high-performance cars, including the Team Lotus 98T, the Pagani Zonda R, the Ferrari LaFerrari, the Mercedes C9 and the McLaren MP4-12C GT3
    • Over twenty different track configurations, including famed courses such as Silverstone Circuit, Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, Autodromo Nazionale Monza, and Nürburgring-Nordschleife
    • Single and Multiplayer racing modes, with customizable Race Weekends, preset Challenges or full-scale Career Mode
    • Refined race-craft AI, with up to twenty-four cars competing for the podium places in the PC version of the game

Based in Rome, Kunos Simulazioni is a development studio specializing in the creation of business simulators for the most influential Italian automotive companies – including Ferrari. This collaboration diversifies 505 Games’ product portfolio with the addition of a high-octane adrenaline pumping racing title.

Asseto Corsa will be making its E3 debut this year showcasing brand new PC content, and will be released on PS4 and XBOX One in 2016. Assetto Corsa is available now for PC download via STEAM.

It will be interesting to see what this means for the PC version as far as upgrades go.

Taking off all my hats, what AC has going for it is good car licenses, modding support, laser scanned Nordschliefe + good layouts, and (depending who you ask) physics, and some good server options.

From a general Joe Blow console gamer perspective, what happens if pCARS were to get Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc + more league features by 2016? Obviously no modding or player-owned dedicated servers on the consoles. Will it generate the sales to offset the expense? Hopefully the answers are yes, and hopefully that means that they'll be adding some pCARS strong points such as improved graphics, weather, and external sounds (and bring those to the PC gratis).

Due to ineffective moderation and me being a donkey in trying to remedy it, I accidentally deleted this thread and its posts. Think I've recreated the topic successfully* however as for the posts, I could only get Ry's above.

    Sorry.

It seems to be coming along rather nicely. Great to see a title like AC making the jump to consoles and it's great to see simulated console footage to get a sense of how it may look on the actual system.

Well the first main update for the console version has been submitted and should if all things go well be out in the next week or so. Still aiming for that September release of this update which remember, will deliver the Black Cat Country environment and add the Maserati Levante SUV to the game.

We’re pleased to announce that patches for Assetto Corsa on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are heading into submission and we will update you over the next week on release timings. This patch will help with screen tearing, framerate will be smoother, there will be AI and controller support updates and much more!
