Did my first proper mod today. Painted the tired, faded grey grill. They actually came out chrome, which was awesome back in the early 90s, especially because its only plastic- lightweight AND classy. Not so great 20 years down the track when it just goes grey and horrible. (Hopefully you've all picked up on my sarcasm...) So I did what anyone interested in aesthetics would do, and painted it gloss black.

    Before

    After

No clear coat yet, i'll do that tomorrow, so its had enough time to dry properly. So happy with it, cant wait to see it on the car.

:O Just found this photo on google- this could very well be my car before it came to Australia- cant tell if it has a sunroof or not. Same wheels, etc. Also note the chrome grill.

Got the grill back in today, and fitted the new white parker bulbs- except, thanks to another case of Toyota's genius logic, the bulbs are flipped on the Levin. The bulbs I bought that would fit any other AE92's parker lights actually fits the indicators, and the indicator bulbs on any other AE92 fit the parkers. Oh well. Brighter indicators... I'll get parker bulbs when I get the car back in a few weeks lol.

Also applied the rest of my stickers

Just felt I had to make a random post... I am so damn excited for my license suspension to be over, and for this to be back on the road. I can not express in words what this car means to be. Its just an unknown jdm oddity to most, those who do understand probably own one, or something very similar and equally odd... I just love this car. I love looking at it, I love learning about it/them, I love what it is and what it did for the Levin/Trueno lineage. Most of all, I cant believe this is my car. This has gone on for far too long for it to be some awesome vivid dream though. This IS my car, and I will do it justice.

So how many demerit points do you get post-suspension? If it was something high like 9 I'm guessing it would take ages of no infringements to get back down to 0?

Yeah, I love mcm- while I havent done many (maybe ANY...) of the stuff they've shown, I love their work, and theyre so funny. Yeah, well, I dont want it to be a project :P its getting an engine transplant, but after that the 'project' phase is over and its back to normal ownership. Project cars never tend to leave that phase, they always feel unfinished- here I have a 90% finished standard car, all it needs is that engine and a bit of love here and there Cheers mate, its going well so far, but I dont think the engine will be in by my end of november deadline

Lol, you say that now, but it'll never be finished, there will always be something more you want to do to it or change. It'll only ever be 90% complete, I don't think anybody who modifies their car ever gets to 100% complete.

So do you reckon that's before or after TDU3 is made and released?

Going to be getting a set of stock 'ninja star' wheels for it in a few weeks, will be painting them so I made this comparison collage. The polished silver one is standard.

Not sure which one... I'm leaning towards grey, but I like the black and gold one too...

I agree with grey. But needs to be a lighter shade.

So the engine has been pulled, the new engine is mostly ready, still a gasket or 2 to get- found that the power steering rack and driveshafts are both stuffed, so they'll be replaced before the engine goes back in, and also the brake lines need replacing too... The closer we get, the further we end up from finishing... Definitly getting there though, not too much longer I hope.
