Default The Rules - You must read these (Old)

TDU Central – Rules of the Board

    Introduction

Hi and welcome to TDU Central.

Please remember this place is all about having fun and enjoying yourself but don’t forget this board is for all ages and will be visited by people from all over the world. So please use common sense in your posts and if you could refrain from using leetspk, txtspk, gangsta etc as those who use online translators or are learning English will find it difficult to understand what you are saying.

We have built up a great community here since February 2007 and wish to keep that going where discussion is encouraged and there is plenty of activity and things to do as well as view. All we ask is that you obey these rules and in doing so you will help us keep TDU Central one of the friendliest and liveliest communities that is not only all about Test Drive Unlimited but is generally all about just having good fun.

    Thanks

    1. The Rules

First and foremost, you should treat others as you would like to be treated yourself. If you’re thinking of posting something which could be deemed; offensive, argumentative, slanderous, libellous or anything that could be demeaning to an individual, organisation or ethnicity, then think how you would react if it was you reading that post from someone else. Basically if you need to censor anything you type then it’s not permitted and if the tone is sounding hostile then is it really worth posting? Probably not!

    1.1 Inappropriate content

    a. No profanity, swearing or obscenities

Be they in text, image or movie form. This includes trying to get around the swear filter with *’s and numbers and characters to represent letters. Please note that in “The Bin” and “General Chat” sections there may be some content that is not suitable for younger members and will be “Not Safe for Work or School” (NSFWoS). These are usually funny images or youtube videos and if you are posting these then please make sure you put NSFWoS along with some warning in bold red text in the first post itself to alert people to this.

We do have a limit to what is allowed though, so don’t push it!

    b. No ***** and/or illegal discussions

No discussions regarding; torrents, p2p, filesharing, downloads, newsgroups, illegal ftp, files etc or links to sites, programs or information on how to achieve this.

    c. No pornography or soft porn images

There are youngsters here, remember that!

    d. No abusing of or insulting other members or groups who you may have a grievance with.

This type of conduct is not tolerated, so keep it off the board. Plus it could result in much harsher real action being taken if it’s serious enough.

    e. No advertising of offsite websites, products, media and services unless authorised via permission by us first!

You are free to put your site link in your signature as long as it relates to the topics of this forum. Examples are TDU, racing, driving, cars, gaming and such. If you post your link please make sure it is not HUGE or distracting ie multiple colours/colors and such otherwise it may be removed. Failure to comply to this will result in your signature being edited or completely removed and may even result in your inability to have a signature at all!

    f. No large images in posts

If you are wanting to post an inline image – ie; you wish to post an image directly into your post – then please make sure that it is no larger than 350KB (0.35MB) in filesize. If you want to upload something larger than this then use the forums' own Attachments option which you can reach when posting a reply or a new thread. You can access this via the ”Manage Attachments” option below the posting area. Click the button and a popup window will appear and then just browse to the files you want to upload (3 at a time max) and when you are done press ”Close”. You will now see the attachments listed with your post and all that needs to be done now is to submit your post or new thread and the attachments will be displayed in your post and when clicked will show at fullsize as depicted by the forums' limits. (1920 x 1080 maximum)

For help on reducing your images to 350KB or below, use this tutorial.

NOTE: Attachments can be used as long as they are within the guidelines of the Attachment rules. If the image you are attaching is bigger then the forum will automatically try and resize it anyway but there is a timelimit and size limit it will allow so check the dimensions and filesizes first before attaching

You can also link images to larger images if you wish. You do this by using the [*IMGLINK][*/IMGLINK] (remove the ‘*’ otherwise it won’t work) tags. Normally to include an image into your post you would use the [*IMG][*/IMG] (remove the ‘*’ otherwise it won’t work) tags, however this is for images upto and including 800 x 640, so if you have an image that’s larger you wish to show then use the IMGLINK tags like so:

    * Images that do not follow this will either be edited to a text link or will be removed entirely

The below tutorial is still part of Section 1.1 (f)

    1) Most image hosting websites create thumbnails or smaller images you can use to then link to the fullsize image itself. To do this get your SMALL image and in your post reply or new thread type [*IMGLINK]http://www.domain.com/SMALLimage.jpg[*/IMGLINK] (remove ‘*’ otherwise it won’t work) where the http://www.domain.com/SMALLimage.jpg is the link to your smaller image you will be using to link to the larger fullsize image.

    2) Now get the URL/Address of the LARGE image and type:

    i. [*URL=http://www.domain.com/LARGEimage.jpg][*/URL]
ii. Now get your IMGLINK part and put it inbetween the above like so
iii. [*URL=http://www.domain.com/LARGEimage.jpg][*IMGLINK]http://www.domain.com/SMALLimage.jpg[*/IMGLINK][*/URL] (remember remove the ‘*’ or this won’t work)
iv. That’s it! It looks more complicated than it is but basically all you need to do is change the IMG tags to IMGLINK or type it in yourself and job done.

    * NO LARGE GIFS; Film and TV clip gifs are huge, sometimes even bigger than making it a movie clip itself, link to these via a textlink or thumbnail. DO NOT INLINE POST THEM

    * DO NOT QUOTE IMAGES; Remove the tags or the images entirely. Each quote has a direct link (little arrow next to the member being quoted) to the original post you are quoting anyway so there's no need to do so.

    http://xs.to
    http://photobucket.com
    http://www.imgupp.com
    http://www.picoodle.com
    http://www.imgplace.com

    g. Youtube/Vimeo Videos

    * Please embed only 2 videos per post, any more then provide a link to the videos via a textlink or image/thumbnail
    * Please do not quote videos, remove the [*TUBE] tags or the entire line.

1.2 Posting Replies and New Threads (Use Search First!!)

    a. It is imperative and a must that you watch the following video: Posting and You - click here
    b. Remember before posting a new thread ALWAYS SEARCH FIRST!

    1.3 Avatars and Signatures

    a. Avatars shall be no more than 120 x 120 in width x height and no larger than 50KB in filesize for Regular members.

    b. Note that only one main signature image is allowed per user. This is in regards to the large image you display under your posts to keep them from falling . Should we find that anyone has more than one signature image, we will contact you via the private messaging system (PM) and then send round the Squirrel Mafia to gnaw your nuts so please remember one image and one image only!!

    c. Signatures shall be no more than 500 x 130 in width x height and no larger than 100KB in filesize, animated signatures are also prohibited as they can be distracting when trying to read posts. If you are posting text in your signature, note that there is a limit to the amount of characters that can be included. Note that this includes the code to show the image too.

Remember that your Avatar and Signature must abide to the rules set out in Section 1.1 otherwise these privileges may be revoked. Should your avatar and/or signature not adhere to the above then it will be removed and a notice will be put in it's place. If you try to re-add your original signature or add another that again is over the rules above then your ability to have an avatar/signature will be removed entirely

1.4 Problems or Grievances with other Members

    a. Should you have an issue with a member on the board, be it a post, a private message (PM) you have received or anything else that was received through the TDU Central forum system. Then please don’t make it worse by bringing it out in public and risk starting trouble on the board by posting something inappropriate or defamatory that may land you in trouble also. Contact a staff member via the PM (private message) system and we will deal with it without it hopefully becoming a major issue.

    b. Should you have an issue with a member or player off the board then please keep it off the board. This includes any Xbox LIVE, System Link, tournament etc. incidents that happened out with the board and thus should be continued and dealt with appropriately off the board. Bringing these issues and situations out in public on TDU Central just causes trouble and upset to other members and again does nothing for the community spirit we have here.

Stick to these Rules and you will have nothing to worry about!

Have fun and we hope you enjoy it here.

    Thanks

    TDU Central Staff

Please note these rules are subject to change at any time. If they should be amended or added to then you will be notified of this change and the date of the change will be shown. It is your responsibility to read the changes and conduct any necessary changes as requested or required.

Forzacentral is ran mainly by a mate who is called BlackMagix on there, I just do some of the tech trickery and fix what he messes up and help out in the administration and moderating.

It was a stupid and pointless thread full of swearing and nonsense. Funny to those who posted in it of course, but I got a few PM's stating that it was and I quote "pathetic".
